This picture appeared in the Springs Valley Herald recently. I was well acquainted with Miss Claire; she died recently at the age of 97. She attended the Mt.Lebanon Church all her life and was active well into her ninety’s. She was my first grade Sunday school teacher and almost became my aunt. She and my Uncle Si Decker were childhood sweethearts but when Uncle Si went to preach in Freetown, IN, he surprised everyone when he brought home a new wife. Miss Claire never did marry.

I think Charles Robbins is still alive but I think most of the others have passed on. The first unknown boy is Willis Knight and the third one is Cecil Flick. Elmer Moore was my good friend. He was the softball pitcher and I was his catcher on the French Lick softball team when he threw a no-hitter against the Paoli nine. That must have been about 1940. Elmer was an army truck driver during the war and when I was stationed in Los Angeles he stopped by to see me twice. That was the last time I ever saw him.

This is a great picture.
